After designing of website next important thing is to get it hosted on the internet. The task is not at easy as there are so many companies offering various types of web hosting packages like shared web hosting, dedicated web hosting, managed web hosting etc. Now the problem is which one to use?
In general it is considered a good idea to go for shared web hosting if the user is in a small business and wants to save cost. However before finalizing the deal it is good to know what is shared web hosting service and what are the merits and demerits of shared web hosting.
Defining shared hosting:
If extremely high performance and high bandwidth are not the points in question, then shared web hosting service can be a most convenient and economic way of hosting web sites.. As name implies, in case of shared web hosting service, the web server that hosts the web pages is shared by several other websites. Talking about number of websites on a shared hosting server, they can be in thousands. Now due to the fact that just one server is fulfilling the requirements of many other websites, the plus point is they can offer cheap prices for their server.
As there are so many websites hosted on a single web server, still there is no pint of worry for the user as the web hosting providers will not compromise on any kind of security and performance issues in case of shared hosting servers. Not only that, shared hosting web servers are operated, monitored and look after around the clock by IT professionals, so as to minimize server downtimes.
Shared hosting servers run on UNIX or other multi-user operating system and each website hosted on the web server is provided a separate account in the operating system. These websites hosted on shared servers are provided unique shared IP addresses and are provided with a fix amount of web resources.
The following are some of the merits and demerits of shared web hosting:
Merits:
1. Cost effective: Due to the fact that many websites are hosted on a single web server, web hosting providers provide economic shared web hosting services. Generally, the cost is as low as $5-10 per month for shared web hosting services. Now-a-days due to cut throat competition in web hosting industry, one can find several web hosting companies offering huge web space and bandwidth with as high as 1000 MB disk space and 40 GB bandwidth.
2. Feasible: Due to the fact that shared hosting web servers are operated, monitored and look after around the clock by IT professionals, who are experts in their respective field, one can concentrate more effectively on his/her web business and the problem of downtime and maintenance will not bother him/her any more.
3. Utility options: In case of shared web hosting, though web resources are shared, utility options are provided by the hosting company so that user can manage his/her website using control panel or similar tools. User is having an option to upload files, modify /remove web pages, add database, check web statistic etc. Not only that, user is also provided facility to create domain name specific e-mails accounts.
4. Efficient: Now-a-days shared web hosting service usually comes with web space and bandwidth that are more than sufficient for small business websites. Efficiency lies in the fact, that in addition to above, one can add more resources and can even overrun the web space or bandwidth usage.
Demerits:
1. Problem with response time: As the web server is shared, websites in the shared web hosting have to face problem of slower server response time as compared to dedicate server hosting.
2. Problem of Reliability: In case of shared web hosting, problem of reliability remains as usually web hosting providers may take care of the security and performance of the shared server but it is also possible that some of websites hosted on the shared server run a nasty program or script or over-utilize the resources, resulting in bringing down the web server. Thus due to fault of one all websites have to suffer downtimes and inaccessibility in case of shared web hosting.
3. Problems related to sharing: As discussed above also, due to fault of one all users have to face the problem for example if there is any one “bad” website in shared web server, due to it all websites on the server can be banned altogether by ISP or search engine due to shared IP address. However it is worth to note that one can always pay extra to get a dedicated IP address to avoid the above problem.
4. Problems related to Security: As many websites shared one server, problem of security always remains in case of shared web hosting as it is quite easy to hack one’s sensitive datas by another on the same server.
Thus in conclusion it can be said that before deciding to deal with shared web hosting, one should consider all the merits and demerits of shared web hosting as highlighted above. One should not forget the success of his/her business depends upon his/her website which in turn depends upon good host provider.

Any website mainly comprises the following – Domain name, Web space, WebPages.
After getting the Domain Name the next step is to check for a good hosting service provider to have one’s own files uploaded in the domain. The following are the important features one must consider while selecting a Linux Based Hosting Plan-
1. Control Panel – This is the most important feature that is mainly required if one wants to maintain his/her website by own. With Control Panel, popularly known as CP, one can do anything means any sort of modification. The moment one signs up for a Hosting Pack, he/she must be immediately provided a control panel for managing the web space.
2. POP3 email Ids & Aliases – One must be provided with plentiful of POP3 email ids and it depends on the Package size as well.
3. FTP Accounts & Virtual FTP – This is the place where one can make any modifications like uploading of files, deletion, updating etc. This is again provided along with the control panel. One must be sure that he/she must have plenty of FTP sub-accounts also to provide his/her clients/users password protected directories. This is the most important feature wherein the clients / users can use the FTP to upload /download files from particular password protected folder of one’s website.
4. Backup – This the feature which is mostly overlooked by the users but is quite important .One must check if the Hosts take Automated Backups.
5. Web Statistics -Visitors plays a key role in the success of one’s website. One must review the report using Statistics Application that run in the server backend in order to see the number of visits each day so as to take proper action.
6. Bandwidth –One must choose the Hosting Plan that offers sufficient Bandwidth for one’s website. As it is not possible to judge the exact requirement in the beginning, still there is facility to deduct the bandwidth required with the passage of time.
7. PHP & Mysql Support – All the Linux Plans support PHP & Mysql. One must make sure that he/she must get this free of cost along with the hosting plan. There are some Hosting Providers that charges extra for MYSQL Database Support & PhpMyAdmin therefore one must check this is advance.
8. Web mail & SMTP – Email forms a most important part in launching the website. One must check if the Hosts provide with WEBMAIL in order to check mails through a web based interface using Squirrelmail or Horde. Corporate Users mostly prefer downloading mails through Email Clients such as Eudora or Outlook Express. One can avail this option only if SMTP or IMAP support is enabled. Therefore one must check in advance if SMTP support is provided or not.
9. SPAM ASSASIN – This is the most important component as no email user is free from a Spam attack. Therefore one must ask for Spam Filters installed on the server where his/her website resides.
10. IP – Dedicated IP is required if one’s website prefers SSL Support (https://) with a passage of time. Most of the websites are hosted on shared IPs.One must ask his/her Hosting Provider for the extra charges involved in getting a dedicated IP and SSL Support. There is important to note that for SSL (https://), one needs to buy a Digital Certificate.
Thus the above were 10 most important ingredients that one must consider while choosing a Linux based hosting plan
How to Appraise a Domain Name’s Value
April 24, 2009 by Web Hosting Watch
Knowing the value of an internet domain name is crucial in today’s business industry. Altough there is no exact formula to appraise a domain, there are a group of things to consider before putting a value to a domain. A majority of people will base their immediate appraisal on TLD extension, word length and keyword popularity but won’t really consider backlinks, brandability or emerging trends part of the equation. There are a few factors that a person must be aware of before they can feel they have thoroughly assessed the domain and attach a valid appraisal amount. The first thing a person can do to is recognize that there are many subtle components that need to be assembled and viewed as a whole to get a comprehensive perspective on the domain. It seems every domainer has their own method used to appraise a domain so I’ve listed a few factors that I feel are necessary in being considered before a domain can be appraised.
____________________
TLD Extension
TLD or Top-Level Domain is the ending extension attached to a domain such as .com, .net or .org. The .com extension is considered the most sought after even though there are other TLD’s that are gaining huge popularity and acceptance. CC’s or Country Codes are also seeing their fair share of registrations.
Name Length
Now that all the 2, 3 and 4 letter .com’s have been registered, the letter count on a domain is fast becoming a huge factor in a domain’s worth. The desire for a short domain is at an all time high and values are steadily climbing due to the limited supply of shorter length domains. Seems shorter names are easier to remember and with that a value increase.
Characters, Numbers and Hyphens
Hyphens integrated between letters are often viewed as separators between keywords. Although there is much dispute whether or not the hyphens negatively impact a domain’s search engine optimization, there is considerable preference that a domain not include anything extra in it’s name. Number digits are beginning to see their popularity rise and can be included with relevant keywords or letters to make a great domain.
Keyword Popularity
Marketable search terms and keyword popularity are extremely relevant in appraising a domain name. The frequency of a given search term helps to indicate the brandability or popularity of the keyword. Generic word domains, such as flowers.com or poker.com are the strongest in their keyword popularity genre.
Traffic and Revenue
Traffic or visitors to a particular domain is one of the most important factors to consider when appraising a domain. More traffic usually means more revenue due to pay-per-click income and possible advertising opportunities, therefore increasing the value of the domain.
Brandability and Trends
Any domain that is easily memorable, short and non-descript is considered brandable and therefore increases it’s value. It would be easier for a person to remember TVrepair.com instead of the longer fix-my-broken-television.com . Not only is the first choice shorter and has better word flow but also there is less of a chance of someone incorrectly typing in the URL. Also keep tuned in to current trends that may seem to increase an otherwise meaningless domain into a treasure. An example is when Apple Computers began to incorporate the letter i into their products descriptions, such as iPhone, iPod and iLife.
Automated Domain Appraisals
This is a tricky one. Although I feel automated domain appraisal systems such as Estibot are helpful in assisting to appraise a domain, I don’t feel they should be the “end all” decision used to obtain a domain’s value. If used more as a reference tool, they can be one of the greatest resources that help determine an appraisal value. Any script/applications can have some bugs, especially ones with complex algorithms as Estibot. Make automated domain appraisals one of the tools to find an appraisal, not the only tool.
Future Potential Interest and Overall Appeal
As time goes by, new words, trends and fads explode onto the scene, and with each new word or trend created, a domain is born. Stay up with current events and become a regular visitor to news aggregate sites, such as Digg and domain industry specific DNHour to stay on the cusp of emerging potential interests.
Backlinks
I like to keep my eye on the number and quality of backlinks to evaluate an domain appraisal. While tons of irrelevant backlinks might negatively effect a domain’s search engine optimization, it can still be a positive thing for a domain names’ value. With more and more domains being “parked”, the links tend to lean towards relevant backlinks and therefore less likely to be bogged down in the SEO nightmare of page rank. And, it’s hard to argue that backlinks don’t increase traffic.
Relevance, Region Specific and other Fuzzy Logic
As said earlier, there is no exact formula to appraise a domain name, and therefore the not-so-exact elements must come into play. An example would be that veteran domainers tend to skew their entire method of appraising when it comes to country specific or region specific domain names. Different factors are incorporated to determine non-English domain word values and domainers across the globe are becoming better in detecting future potential interests in foreign markets. Another example is the continuously growing popularity of “long-string domaining”, or stringing multiple words or keywords to achieve a brandable and memorable domain name. TacoBell has ThinkOutsideTheBun.com and Amazon has the domain BuyABook.com. By definition, these would not be very valuable but that’s when the fuzzy logic creeps in. A domain’s value can be perceived in multiple ways.
____________________
So keep in mind that even though there isn’t one exact correct formula being used by the domain industry to appraise domains, a reasonable appraisal can be determined by anyone if they keep all the factors in mind and how they each interact with each other.
I’d suggest you monitor the pulse of current domain sales by frequently visiting
DNJournal’s Domain Sales Chart. This will show you weekly and even yearly to-date domain sales for the industry. And don’t forget to visit the front page of Sedo to view ongoing live auctions. Each of these great resources will help you in creating your own customized method of domain appraising by seeing what domains are selling and for what amount.

ng Top Web Hosting
There are many ways in which you might want to go about finding top web hosting. In order to find top web hosting, you should look very carefully at the things certain web hosting places offer you, to see if you are going to get what you need.
Things To Look For
There are several things that you should look for when you are looking for top web hosting. First of all, one of the most important things that you need to be considering is space. When you are building a website, for whatever reason, you are going to want to make sure that you have enough space for everything that you might want to put on it.
You might want to consider having unlimited space, even if you don’t think you are going to be using that much space, because having unlimited space is the only way that you can be sure you will have enough room to incorporate any kinds of technologies that come out between the time you have your site and the time you might want to add more to it.
The top web hosting sites will be able to offer you unlimited space, and therefore you will be able to see that you have plenty of room for whatever you want to put on your space.
Another thing that you should keep in mind when you are looking for the top web hosting sites is whether or not these sites come with domain names that you can choose, or if you have to go through another company to find a domain name. If they do come with domain names, can you pick the ones that you want to pick, or does it have to be something that the company chooses?
All of these things are important for you to consider when you are looking for the top web hosting sites. Remember too, that you should always feel comfortable with the web hosting site that you have chosen, so if you don’t feel comfortable, it might not be a good place for you and your website to be.
Be Cautious With Web Hosting : It’s not so Simple With Hosting Plans

It’s quite difficult and confusing to start any type of online marketing or Internet business.
There are many aspects to be taking care of such as domain name registration and purchase, purchasing of Web site host and “construction” of the Web site by own. Generally users don’t want to follow this difficult path rather chooses the easy way of getting everything from one place.
This results in growth of “total packages” by many hosting and Internet development companies, in which domain-name registration, software for design of a site or an online method of building a site, professional design of the site, and of course, the hosting are included. The users commonly use this, as it looks quite easy especially to the beginners.
But the story is different which brings problems afterwards. There is no road as paved “with gold” and this type of registration, hosting and design package deal is no exception.
The real problems emerge afterwards which are discussed below: -
1.On the popularity of a website, most of the host providers use to increase the prices. With increasing traffic there is no other option for a user than to pay more. Thus it forms a very big problem for larger business sites than for smaller business sites or “personal” or “theme” sites.
2. In the beginning some providers provide some “specials” but they are only for a limited amount of time, and rises with popularity of website.
3. Another major problem faced by a Web site owner is that his/her needs changes with passage of time and there arises need to change the package and then the user is confronted with problem of inability to change the pages on his/her own, another problem which puzzles is the inability to effectively track traffic, as some come with traffic statistics packages.
4.Another problem, which occurs after wards, is the Downtime i.e. when a site is down and can’t be viewed. This asks for change of host or change of domain name registrars.
5.Often situation comes when a Web site, registration, and web hosting package company suddenly disappears, leaving a client with no way to contact them. This not only causes loss of the registered domain name, but even the loss of revenues while the site is “down”.
6. The hosting companies make contracts which states that the “special” prices are only offered conditional i.e. which are applicable on remaining with a certain company and for a specified amount of time only.
7. The actual “name” of one’s site may not be even actually registered to “him” but to the hosting and registrar company that initiated the purchase through the package deal. By this way the Web site hosting, design and registrar packages “save” money several times for consumers, as they advantage of buying in bulk, registering hundreds of sites on a monthly basis.
The above problems can be easily resolved by simply switching to other Web site hosting and domain name registrar.
But wait! Wait! Wait! It’s not so easy as some hosting and domain name registrars don’t allow to “handing over” a site to any other company, as it means loss of customer or more interesting loss of money. The current hosting company tries all to create problem in the form of delays in transfer, by refusing to provide sufficient information to a new host or registrar to effectively conclude a transfer. Most worse is, if the name of a site has been registered to them.
At this point of time a real “nightmare” for the user starts. He tries all to get the response but all is vain.
There are several incidences, which shows that it’s really hard to shift to another provider.
One of the users named Rahul after much downtime wrote to the initial hosting company, and domain name registrar, stating his disappointment in the service. The response was quite annoying it was that he should either “like it or lump it” and that nothing is in their hands, as a contract was in place that could not be “broken” by any means. The language of the e-mail correspondence was quite harsh and uncalled for with no phone number for personal contact; even the name of the support person that wrote the e-mail was missing.
The site remained down consistently, as well, over the next few weeks, forcing Rahul to sign up for a different hosting plan with a different host, and also re-register the domain with another registrar. Thus it was just waste of time and money but still he was fortunate as the registration of the site was in his name and there was no need to purchase a new name. However at the time of transfer, old host refused to initiate a transfer, claiming that the contract remained intact, and therefore the site could not be transferred. Thus forcing the new hosting company to “maneuver” the site onto it’s own servers without the cooperation of the previous company and putting the unnecessary money burden on the user.
Chapter was not yet over, few months later Rahul was billed repeatedly by the previous hosting company for monthly hosting, even though a site no longer existed on their servers. In order to stop all the Copies of all correspondence had to be sent to the billing service to “dismiss” this recurrent billing, which was the only option left to Rahul at this point.
Thus it is not just one incidence but also one out of the many.
The following are some of the ways to avoid trap of these companies-:
1. One must read all paperwork and contracts thoroughly. The copy of the contract should be clearly visible and each word of the contract should be read thoroughly as this will help in saving from frustration and misunderstandings later on.
Not only this, one must make sure that the registration will be done in “his/her name”, as the loss of a popular name, at that moment when there is large amount of traffic, is a great loss for any user. Most preferable is that one should register his/her domain name him/her self. Registering domain is not a big deal with so many online domain registrars. The only thing one is supposed to do is that after buying a hosting package immediately he/she should change the “name servers” through the control panel provided by the domain registrar.
The best advantage of doing so is that if one is not satisfied with his/her hosting company and would like to shift to a different company, simply he/she is required to change the name servers to point to the new company.
2.In order to avoid problems afterwards one must sure there is a contact phone number and physical address for correspondence with the companies. As most of the times the both are missing and user is left with no option than to feel harassment as well as time and money loss as seen in above example.
3. One must do his homework properly before finalizing any hosting company. He/she must do proper research on different plans and different companies. One must check through references the image of the company and also must ask from their current customers about the support being offered at the time of crisis.
4. One must take time to correctly ascertain his/her own needs and the needs of any site he/she is planning to build. The package must be “as per requirement”.
5.It is most advisable to use different providers for each stage of a Web site: hosting, domain-name registrar, site building. As everything is online it does take longer to get a site up and running with this method, but the best part is by doing so the overall control remains with the user. If one is disappointed with the service of his/her provide simply he/she is required to shift to new provider and that is quite easy as to replace one is easier than to replace everything.
Thus it can be seen that sometimes “time saving” strategies are not really fruitful and they can lead to heartbreak and headaches afterwards. The moral of the story is “slow but steady” wins the race. So act wisely.
Designation of Web Hosting

There are several business enterprises in the market, some running as a small unit commanded by single person and some other large corporations standing as multi-national corporations. But still what is common between them, is their web presence providing description about their works to the customers i.e. what is their work? their location?, their past background?, what makes them outstanding etc. Majority of above mentioned businesses also used to sell their products and/or services through the website.
If a user is having a business with him/her and desires to make a mark in cyberspace, then one should buy a package from a particular web hosting company.
There are some segments of people who may not be able to get what the web hosting actually is? Web hosting means process of taking computer space and bandwidth (potential of data transfer) on rent from a particular company for making the website useful for plenty of visitors.
If one talks in a simple manner, the user opts to buy an owed space on a computer from a particular hosting company, after that the files are transferred from user’s website to that computer. After this task, that particular website becomes available for several users across the world, and they can easily browse down the website as well as can download files and purchase concern products and services from the user to whom that particular website belongs to.
Domain Name
Selecting a domain name for one’s website is the foremost thing the user is required to do .A domain name in simple language is an address for the concerned website. User should remember that the domain name should not contain very long and complex words in it making it difficult for the user to recall.
Style and Design of Website
One can follow any of the three routes mentioned below for designing the website:
Route no.1
There are several website assisting software packages one can easily get from the market. Example two such popular packages are Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dream weaver. With assistance of these programs, one can easily design and edit his/her web pages and can judge their quality on the spot with respect to users.
Route no.2
There are few companies in the market offering an easy alternative for the user to create his/her own website by providing templates for the user to select the desired one. Through this type of service, the user needs nothing much to do but just has to select a particular layout from several available pre-defined templates, choose some color, font and graphics options, induce some text, and a good-looking website is ready.
Route no.3
One should hire a specialized web design company for his/her business. No doubt it is the most expensive option but the user will get definite worth of money, resulting in exactly dream website.
Receiving a web host:
As soon as the formalities of selecting domain name, designing of website etc are completed by the user, the next thing to do is searching for a hosting company.
If one goes out in the market, he/she will find that there is no scarcity of hosting companies there. One should look for a company which is well respected and offers same kind of services which is required by the user. One can even consult to the friends relating to this matter.
After that, the user should choose a web hosting package according to his/her requirements and then should sign up for an account. Generally users do the payment for the hosting service through credit card online. If the user has not registered the domain name in the beginning, he/she can do it with respect to the hosting company.
When the formalities of payment are concluded, the user will get an email substantiating with details related to his/her hosting package. One should go through this email with an open mind as it contains information related to the way of logging on to user’s own hosting account.
Subsequently, user needs to upload all the HTML pages, graphics, etc on to his/her web space. It can be accomplished through the control panel on user’s website, or through applying an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program like CuteFTP.
Now after the website is online, it will be available for users all around the world, so one should make sure that the information it contains like one’s email address and telephone number needs to be up-to-date. This is very important if one’s business is online business.

The Internet Is The Delirium Of The Poor" m@gnis
3 years are already passed since i typed for the first time the keywords "make money", since then i have found, tried, failed and retried several money making programs on the web. Promises to earn easy money on the internet are very, very few real, 90% of these opportunities are false, scammers behind schemes to make easy and "dirty" money at the expense of the work of internet users searching for a dream or simply programs that doesn’t work.
Only Now 3 Years After The Beginning Of My Journey To Make Money On The Web I Finally Started To See Some Real Money, The Money That I Fantasized To Receive In The Search Of The Dream!
Well, the Internet is a gold mine but we must learn bathe in the right place. In my three years of research by the WWW i can name by memory the list of programs and trust companies to make real money in the net that i have found, in reality are 8 that i can recommend without hesitation, only 8 in 3 years of research and experimentation.
Before signing up in this adventure there are 2 important factors that must be taken into account:
1.You own a website
2.You don’t own any website
If you don’t own a website i recommend dealing in getting 1 fast, you don’t need to spend money, there are numerous templates and layouts freely available on the web just look, if you do not know what "template" or "layout" means you will soon discover, if you don’t have any knowledge it is time to get it, basic html is enough, search on , there are good resources to learn, take the time to the learning of this issue, trust in me, it is worth, why?
Among various reasons i can highlight the following; You Do not spend money on spency services, you can use more content and earn more with your webspace, and you not depend on anyone and that is very positive.
All My Site Was Built With knowledge obtained on the Internet, Many Hours Of Work And Dedication And It’s Only this Two Procedures that you Need To Become successful!

Take the effort to have more than a source of income, not only 1 pay program but several, don’t bet only in 1 program for better it can be, you can devote it the most of the time but not the entire, this way if one of the programs doesn’t work as espected you always have a second option, this way is always "safe" and you get better financial results.

Why Would You Want to Choose Windows Web Hosting?

Windows web hosting, at the very basic level, is web hosting that has been provided that will operate on the Windows platform. This type of hosting software is provided by the Microsoft Corporation and it is widely known for its reliability, its user-friendly nature and its affordability.
When weighing the advantages of the Windows XP operating system, you will find that it is known for its ease of use. You will be given very friendly, very familiar layouts and you will find that it is quite instinctive. Administering to your site through the Windows server operating is quite simple, and you’ll find that the Windows NT platform is also known for its reliability. Keep in mind, though that the dependability of any server or platform depends heavily on the technical knowledge that goes into it as well as its maintenance
The Windows XP platform is well known for its scalability and for the fact that it can be acquired for a fairly low price. With just these resources, you can set up a completely functional internet server in the space of a few hours.
When you are considering windows web hosting service, you need to think about your sites own needs. For the most part, interactive websites will run on active server pages which will allow scripts to be run on the server prior to the files being transmitted to the client, which are also known as ASPs, or PHP or the programming language known as PERL.
If you prefer ASP, you will find that windows web hosting service is going to be perfect for you. Access, MS SQL, Windows Media and Virtual Basic scripts are some other Windows-only applications available, and you will get benefits beyond other operating systems in this regard. You can get your material online and published very quickly.
If you are familiar with Microsoft Windows software, this is the package for you. You can even get optimization of hard disk space and RAM, which will help remove computer lock-ups when you are loading up web applications.
How to Set-up a Website That Will Make Money Online Part 1

How to Set-up a Website that will Make Money Online Setting everything up You have several options when it comes to setting up a site or a blog. I will list the free choices first:
Use Google’s Blogger or any other free service which allows you to create pages and such Acquire free hosting (there are plenty – however 90% utilize ads on your website in order to make up for the “free” service) Or simply use Hubpages or Squidoo – You won’t technically “own” your own site, however I highly recommend using Hubpages since it is very easy to start out with especially if you are a newbie.
Hubpages set you up with – Kontera (In text advertising), Google Adsense (Contextual Advertising), Amazon Assossiates (Affiliate Advertising) and eBay (Affiliate Advertising). You also get a pretty addicting experience – you get your own profile which has a score (so do your hubs) and the higher the score, the more traffic you get. Out of the 3 above I would personally recommend Hubpages (for the short term). You will see results faster – you can spend more time writing articles rather than fidgeting with the template – you will have good SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Placement, – what page you appear in the results for a particular keyword) from the beginning.I do not – however – recommend using Hubpages – if you are aiming for more than $1,000 a month *which is already extremely difficult solely using Hubpages*. There are plenty of people who make a good income with a Blogger blog. There is one pitful to this – Google owns you. Google can shut down your account for ANY reason – also the Blogger system for templates is a downright pain in the ass.
If you want to get everything right from the beginning I suggest you get a webhosting from a company. I use Hostgator – because they were appealing and they have well-priced plans and decent customer service. You can also buy a reseller account (an account where you can sell webhosting – basically start your own webhosting company for $25).
I found out a way to get 1 cent (yes $0.01) hosting for the first month! After that of course you pay the full price ($5-$10 depending on your plan). What you need to do is this: Go sign up for a plan you want – than at the checkout, in the Coupon Code insert: 404PAGE
At least you can try out a proper webhost for a month to see if it is really for you. Other than Hostgator – there are a lot of other Webhosts which are also very good. I recommend checking out:
Lunarpages Hostmonster IX Webhosting BlueHost
You will also need a domain registrar – and for this I recommend Godaddy
If you hunt long and well enough you should be able to find a coupon for a $1 (dot com) for the first year (after that fees are usually $10 per year). When you buy a domain name – it is usually recommended that you get a 2-3 keyword rich domain, depending on your niche. For example if you were dealing with Car Insurance Quotes you might come up with – www.InsuranceCarQuotes.com
I will discuss how to pick your niche later.Note – avoid buying Domain names with Hosting plans from the same source – the reason is, companies want money – and if you buy a twin plan you will have a hard time switching host/domain to another provider.
Once you have rerouted your Domain Name Server (DNS) to your host, you will need to use a script (in order to save time) to get your site up and running. I use the Content Management System (CMS) Wordpress (well not really a “CMS” more of a blog) because it is very versatile and easy to use. You can find instructions on how to install Wordpress easily online – if you have a Cpanel host (which I thoroughly recommend) than you will most likely have Fantastico. Utilizing Fantastico you can install Wordpress in seconds.
No matter what CMS (if you are using one) you use, the default theme is probably not of interest to you. Just search online until you find a theme you like, and modify it to your needs. Worst case scenario – hire a template designer to make one for you. CSS, PHP, and HTML are pretty easy to learn and are useful skills to attain – therefore I recommend you simply redesign an existing template.
Selecting a Niche: Many people do not know what to write about when they create or decide to create their own site. My suggestion is just write about something you’re passionate about – that way you are more likely to stay motivated through the tough times.
If you are only creating a website in order to make money – you will probably want to select a niche which has a lot of offers or products. If you believe you’re main source of income will be coming from Google AdSense than I suggest you use the Spyfu tool. It is basically a tool which analysis a specific keyword and tells you how much you can get paid for that keyword via Google Adsense. You should use SpyFu.com to find a profitable niche – do so in conjunction with Tools.Seobook keyword research tool. Tools.Seobook.com will allow you to see how many searches are done per day for a specific keyword – and related keywords. You want to aim for long-tail keywords which receive ~100 total searches per day. This is done in order to minimize competition. Speaking of competition, you will need to check out other websites in your niche to see how big of a “threat” they are. You will want to check the amount of backlinks, its Page Rank, its Alexa rank and so on.
This was part one – expect a part two shortly on how to do basic SEO.
